“The International Nurses Day” celebration was organized by Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bhubaneswar on 9th May 2026 with great enthusiasm and respect to honor the dedication, compassion, and invaluable contribution of nurses to healthcare services. The theme of the programme was “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives”. This theme highlights the critical need to invest in nursing, provide safe work environments and ensure fair compensation to improve global health outcomes.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome speech by Mrs. Gitanjali Mohanta, Nursing Superintendent. The speakers highlighted the vital role of nurses in promoting health, caring for patients, and strengthening the healthcare system. The celebration emphasized the importance of empowering nurses through education, support, and professional development so that they can continue to save lives and serve society effectively.
DNS, ANS, Supervisors, In-charges, Nursing Educators, Infection Control Nurses, Nursing Quality and Nursing Officers actively participated in the event, making the programme meaningful and successful. Various cultural events were organized during the celebration, which added joy and enthusiasm to the programme. The participants showcased their talents through music, dance, and other performances, creating a vibrant and memorable atmosphere. Prize distribution was also conducted to appreciate and encourage the participants for their active involvement and outstanding performances. The winners were felicitated with prizes and certificates in recognition of their efforts and achievements.
