Dr. Liwa Patnaik, MD 2021-2024 Batch, Department of Community Medicine, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), was awarded the Founder’s Gold Medal for All-Round Performance at the 21st Annual Convocation of KIIT (Deemed to be University) held on 26th September 2025.

The Founder’s Gold Medal is one of the highest honours of the University, awarded in recognition of outstanding academic performance, exemplary conduct, leadership qualities, and contribution to institutional activities. Dr. Patnaik was selected for this distinction from among 9,000 graduating students for the year 2025, including undergraduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D. scholars across various disciplines.

Dr. Patnaik expressed gratitude to Prof.(Dr.) Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS, for his vision and continuous encouragement; to the HOD of Department of Community Medicine, Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar for her constant mentorship, guidance and support throughout 3 years of PG training program and beyond; to all the Faculties of Dept. of Community Medicine; to the Dean and Principal, KIMS, Prof. Dr R C Das for the nomination; to the University Committee Members for the selection and the entire KIMS family including all the Faculties, seniors, colleagues, juniors and staffs.

Reflecting on the achievement, Dr. Patnaik remarked that the recognition stands as a symbol of the encouragement, guidance, mentorship, and collaborative environment fostered in the Department of Community Medicine and entire School of Medicine, KIMS.
