A special felicitation ceremony was held at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) on July 22 to welcome a group of distinguished doctors and key officials who recently joined the institution. The event was graced by the Founder of KIIT, KISS, and KIMS, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, who extended a warm welcome, congratulated and felicitated the new members for choosing KIMS as their professional home.
The new joinees include several senior consultants and experts in super-specialty domains, bringing with them vast experience from prestigious institutions across India and abroad. Among those felicitated was Mr. Hemant Lal, who has joined as Director of Procurement & Supply Chain Management with over 32 years of experience. In the clinical domain, Dr. Tushar Kumar Mohapatra joined as Senior Consultant in Nuclear Medicine. He is a distinguished alumnus of AIIMS New Delhi with nearly two decades of experience in his domain and is instrumental in establishing advanced PET-CT centers in Odisha and Hyderabad.
Dr. Amit Kumar Chanduka, a neurosurgeon trained at premier institutes, has joined as Senior Consultant in Neurosurgery & Spine. Dr. Priyabrata Das and Dr. Debashis Routray joined as Senior Consultants in Urology & Renal Transplant, bringing in expertise from SCB Medical College, CMC Vellore, and Apollo Hospitals. Dr. Asit Kumar Mohanty, with a background at Tata Memorial and international cancer centres, has taken charge as Senior Consultant & HOD – Radiation Oncology.
Others welcomed included Dr. Shakti Swaroop, who joined as Associate Director and HOD Anesthesiology & Critical Care. With more than 15 years of experience, he has specialized expertise in liver transplant anesthesia. Prof. Dr. Jayant Kumar Dash joined as Senior Consultant and Academic Leader in Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is recognized both nationally and internationally in cosmetic surgery, burn management, and skin banking. Dr. Subhakanta Choudhury has joined the KIMS family as Senior Consultant in Geriatrics and Deputy Medical Superintendent. Dr. Puspak Samal has joined as Senior Consultant Orthopaedics & Spine Surgery. He brings over 10 years of experience in complex orthopaedic and spine surgeries.
